Demonstrations

The Dallas Lace Society exists to share and promote the craft and art of LACE.  If you see an opportunity to demonstrate the making of bobbin lace to a group of people, get the contact information to Dorothy Morgan.  It’s usually a lot of fun and it does a good job of spreading the word about our passion.

                           Classes

Judy Aycock taught a Buck’s Point Lace Class in January.  Everyone learned a lot and had a lot of fun, as usual, with Judy.

This coming summer we will have a Honiton Class with Cathy Morris.  It’s scheduled for May 30, 31, & June 1st in Dallas.  Make sure to contact Kathy.ogle@swbell.net to reserve your spot.

We are also having our annual Milanese Class with Louise Colgan on Oct. 24, 25 & 26th in Dallas.  Again, contact Kathy.Ogle@swbell.net to sign up for this class.

DLS Library News

If you would like to access our library, you can find it online at LIBIB.COM. The library also has a nice bobbin-winder that you can borrow when needed.   Please contact Arthiss at arthiss.kliever@gmail.com to check out a book or with questions about any books, publications or use of the winder.  These items can be mailed to members who are not in the immediate area and returned later.

We were recently contacted by Melanie Dunn who inherited a large collection of tatting and lace supplies from her mother in law.  We are so glad that she thought to get these items to people who would truly appreciate them.    Arthiss will be creating a list of the books that we will be adding to the existing DLS Library.  Details soon.

As you all know, we document our volunteer hours.  Our goal is to teach the skill of bobbin lace-making to anyone who has an interest in it.  Please take time each quarter to estimate and report the number of hours you have spent toward our goal. See the By-Laws for qualifying hours and report yours to Debbie Stone at dlstone@swbell.net as soon as possible.
