Letter
from the President
Dear
Members,
Here
we are, a month into the new year already! I hope your holidays went
well and you are having more time for lacing. Our Christmas party
was great fun and the room looked very festive with the lovely décor
that was added. We had beautiful items for the lace exchange and
some very useful and lovely raffle and door prize items. As always,
we were all crossing our fingers to win one of Elena’s special
creations in the raffle. Of course the food was yummy.
Stacy
and I are planning our next road trip to the IOLI convention in
Indianapolis this July. Neither of us have been there before so we
are looking forward to seeing new scenery and hopefully a few less
corn fields than the trip to Iowa. We’ll start checking out the
food sources along the route real soon.
I
hope all of you are considering entering an item in the State Fair
this year. The site isn’t ready for 2016 yet but entry forms and
mail-in entries are due mid July. The site, Bigtex.com, should be
updated by early spring. They are not sure of the theme yet –
something agricultural. Not very helpful if you want to plan a lace
piece that fits the theme!
Dorothy
is organizing some demonstration opportunities and I encourage even
the beginning lacers to participate. It is fun meeting the visitors
and hanging with your lacing buds.
Thank
you to our board members and committee members who volunteered for
two more years and to the new volunteers who have joined in to help
with the business end of our organization. I know it eats into your
hobby time but we are all so thankful for your service that keeps our
group together and growing.
Looking
forward to seeing you at lace meetings,
Marilyn
