Classes

 


 

Everyone really had a great time with Cathy’s Honiton Class.  We look forward to having her teach us more very soon.

 

Judy Aycock will be teaching a Bucks point Class in September.  The dates are the 6th thru the 8th.  

 

Mark your calendars for our annual Milanese Class with Louise Colgan.  We’ve scheduled it for Nov. 9, 10, 11, 2024 and the cost will be $130.

Demos

 

The Shawnee Trail Cowboy Day in Frisco will be on Sept. 28 from 1 to 4pm in the Downtown Museum Center.

 

The Mansfield Founders Day will be held on Oct. 5th.

Volunteer Hours

As you all know, we document our volunteer hours.  Our goal is to teach the skill of bobbin lace-making to anyone who has an interest in it.  Please take time to estimate the number of hours you have spent towards our goal.  See the By-Laws for qualifying hours and report yours to Debbie Stone at dlstone@swbell.net as soon as possible. 

**If you went to the IOLI Convention in Nashville, please remember to count those hours which include classes, travel, prep and volunteer hours!**


DLS Library News

Lisa Thompson recently received a donation of books from the Dallas Needlework Group and these books will be added to our library and the duplicates will be available for sale to DLS members soon.

The IOLI Convention 2025 will be hosted by the

Dallas Lace Society in

“The Heart of Texas”

Aug. 3 – 8th at Westin Park Central in Dallas, TX

Classes 

Cathy Morris will be teaching a Honiton Class, June 7, 8, & 9th.  We plan to have it at Marilyn’s.  The class will cost $65 for three days of excellent instruction.  If you are interested, check with Stacy (stacy.tackett1970@gmail.com) for availability. 

We are also planning to have Judy Aycock this September 6, 7, 8 for a Bucks Class.  Again, stay tuned for more details.

Karen Hickman

June 17, 1946 - January 23, 2024


     She has been making beautiful lace since 2003. She was a quick learner and made torchon, Ipswich, Buckspoint, Milanese, Brugges, tatting and crochet. She was very generous with her time and talent. She taught bobbin lace to numerous people through Lifetime Learning in Austin. She demonstrated bobbin lace at various history festivals through-out the state. She served as President and other officers of Austin Lace Guild.  She also served IOLI as membership chairman.

     Her smile is beautiful. She is loved and thought of with honor.  She will be greatly missed

Classes

Cathy Morris has agreed to have another Honiton Class, possibly June 7, 8, & 9th.  We plan to have it at the Forest Green Library.  Stay tuned for more details.  

 

We are also trying to sign Judy Aycock this September for a Bucks Class.  Again, stay tuned for more details.
