The I.O.L.I.
Convention
August 3 - 8, 2025
We are still
looking for items to put in the Silent Auction. If you have lace-related items to contribute,
contact Dorothy Morgan at centumlittlefingers@yahoo.com.
There’s still time
to sign up to volunteer in the
display/silent auction/lace contest room, vendor sales room if you want. These
rooms will be open when classes are not scheduled.
Look for the
I.O.L.I. and DLS members with red bandanas for help while at
the convention.
Don’t forget to
sign up for neck massages after a long day of
lacing. People have been asking for this
for years so we decided to give it a try.
Information about this service will be in your convention
booklet along
with a complete schedule, map of the hotel, class information, hours for sales,
hotel meals, nearby restaurants and other important information you’ll need for
the week.
Upcoming
Classes
Our
annual Milanese Class with Louise Colgan is set for Oct. 25, 26, 27 At
Marilyn’s place.
Contact Kathy at Kathy.ogle@swbell.net.
We
are still looking at having a Bucks point lace class with Judy Aycock in
January 2026.
Starting
next summer, we hope to be setting up an annual Honiton Class with Cathy Morris
in Dallas. If you are interested in
either or both, please contact Kathy Ogle.
Demonstrations
Shawnee Trail Days in Frisco are coming up on
Sept. 27th. If you are
interested in demonstrating lace, please contact Kathy Ogle.
The Mansfield
Founder’s Day will offer another opportunity to demonstrate lacing. It’s scheduled for Oct. 4th. Sign up with Dorothy Morgan for this event.
DLS Library News
If you would like to access
our library, you can find it online at LIBIB.COM The library also has a nice bobbin winder
that you can borrow when needed.
Please contact Arthiss at
arthiss.kliever@gmail.com to check out a book or with questions about any books,
publications or use of the winder. These
items can be mailed to members who are not in the immediate area.
Volunteer Hours
As you all know, we document our volunteer hours. Our goal is to teach the skill of bobbin
lace-making to anyone who has an interest in it. Please take
time to estimate the number of hours you have
spent towards our goal. This year we
anticipate a lot of time spent just on the convention alone. See the By-Laws for qualifying hours and
report yours to Debbie Stone at
dlstone@swbell.net as soon as possible.
